Integrated Pest Management or IPM is an environmentally sensitive approach to lawncare that relies on a variety of common-sense practices to minimize pesticide and fertilizer use. It is a series of pest management evaluations, decisions and controls that manages your lawn’s health while reducing the amount of chemicals applied.
In plain language, it means that your lawn will only be treated for the issues that it actually has, rather than blanketed with an over-the-top cocktail of chemicals. IPM does not completely exclude pesticides from your maintenance program. Rather, timing and the judicious application of the least toxic materials are the goals so that the usage is greatly  reduced.
